Cremation Options
We offer a wide variety of personalized urns and services.

Many people believe that choosing cremation means limiting your options. Actually, there are a variety of options available with cremation.

Your funeral director will explain these options to you and answer any questions you may have about cremation.

For those who just want Cremation, we know what you mean - you don't want to be sold additional products or services - there are no add-ons or hidden charges here. Having said that, let me tell you about several third parties expenses you will be faced with: Our price does not include the Medical Examiner's Cremation Approval Fee ( in this district the Medical Examiner charges $25). filing of the death certificate is included in our cremation fee; however, the county charges $7 for each certified copy (we do not charge any additional to obtain for you).

A Memorial Service is a service without the body of your loved being present. At this service, you may choose to have the cremated remains present in an urn. This ceremony can be held at the funeral home chapel or at your church. It is a way to honor the life of your loved one and provide a setting in which friends and family might gather together.

A funeral with viewing and visitation is still an option when choosing cremation. As with any traditional funeral, all the usual options for ceremony apply. After the ceremony, instead of processing to the burial site the service is concluded and your loved one's remains are cremated.

What will you do with your loved one's cremated remains? That decision is up to you.

Here are a few examples of decisions some of our client families make:

  1. Burial of cremated remains in a cemetery or church memorial garden.
  2. Inurnment of cremated remains in a mausoleum or columbarium niche.
  3. Disposition within a National Cemetery for those who qualify (we can arrange that too).
  4. Scattering of cremated remains.

Your funeral director will answer any questions you may have about methods of disposition.

In almost every case there are a few third party or extra expenses - these are not our charges, therefore, they are not listed as such; however, so that you do not have any surprises you should know about these potential third party fees.

  1. 1. For cremations - in this district the Medical Examiner's Office charges $50 (as of 2014) to approval all cremations.
  2. 2. Certified Death Certificates - Certified Copies are $7 (as of 2014) each as charged by local government.
  3. 3. Obituaries - Most newspapers will publish a free death notice if desired. For obituaries that list survivor information and other personal information about the deceased, the local Fernandina Beach Newsleader charges $65 with an additional $10 if a photo is included. A typical paid obituary with the Jacksonville paper, The Florida Times Union, tends to average $350 to $450 and up per day depending on length. We do not charge any additional to compose and/or submit your obituary to any newspaper in the United States - you will only be charges the exact fee as charged by the newspaper. No one is required to place on obituary.
